Curious About Synesthesia? Join Us!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see music in color, taste words, or feel sensations in response to what you observe?
Synesthesia is a fascinating phenomenon in which the senses blend in extraordinary ways. For some people, letters and numbers have colors. Others may hear sounds and experience shapes, textures, or vivid visual imagery. Far from being a curiosity, synesthesia offers valuable insights into perception, creativity, memory, and the human brain.
From May 27–29, 2026, researchers, artists, and synesthetes from around the world will gather in Amsterdam for the symposium Synesthesia: Interdisciplinary Research in a Multisensory World.
Hosted by the International Association of Synaesthetes, Artists, and Scientists in collaboration with University of Amsterdam and Tilburg University, the symposium will feature engaging talks, artistic presentations, and opportunities to connect with a vibrant international community.
We warmly invite members of the Amsterdam community who are curious about perception, neuroscience, art, and human experience to attend. No prior knowledge of synesthesia is required—just an open mind and a sense of wonder.
